Yeah... security orbs do suck, and I understand your point of view. A few things that make my parcel a little different .. or might clear up my situation ...

1) it is on a private island
2) it is in a corner plot (SW) with no sims on either the south side or the west side, therefore, it is not as though my parcel is needed for someone to navigate through SL. In fact, once you get to my plot, you have to turn around and go back from which way you came.
3) People were always able to fly through my land, they were just given notice that it was private land and 30 seconds should surely be enough time to fly through a 60m X 100m plot.
4) If people went over the 30 seconds, they were only gently pushed... maybe 50 meters, and then they might get another blue box to interact with ... meaning another 30 seconds to try to find their way off my land.

Personally, if I encounter a parcel that has a security orb that asks me to consider someone's privacy... I do that. I don't need to count the seconds I need to leave the parcel, I just leave.

Good points you make though. Of course, I'm being pretty careful about giving out too many specifics of my situation to try to protect the privacy and dignity of the other parties involved.

Cheers,

Obviously, feel free to do what you prefer on your land.
:-)

However, from the visitor point of view, security orbs totally suck - the same way that ejects do.

Many people don't want to 'visit your land', they just need to fly over it, in order to reach another place.

For me, the problem isn't being orbited or pushed or ejected or sent home, the point is I can't walk/fly over your parcel and this makes my wandering / exploration uncomortable.

30-seconds notices are also annoying because you have to interact with the blue popup, you have to count how time you still have to leave the parcel.

If you actually need 'privacy' in Second Life I suggest you
1- avoid parcels on an island that is generally supposed to be open for all to explore and walk through
2- look for a parcel a private island
