Funny Song ‘Cuz I am not Blog Inspired today

I’m not inspired to write a big long blog entry today. I did, however, come across a song which kind of reminded me of my mischief in SL…

Hope you enjoy.

What to do with Unused Prims – Part 2

Well, as noted in my previous entries, there are ways to use unused prims on the new open space sims – have a chocobo farm.  Being like any kind and caring person, I didn’t want the chocobos to be bored, so I went back and made sure they were staying busy.   Here’s what I found:

Exploring the lighthouse

Exploring the Lighthouse

 Yippie! We found Hay!

Found some new friends checking out the loft… Yippie!

Frolicking and Playing in a Chocobo Way

Seems Chocobos love the water.

Star Diver

Star Diver?

Love Birds

Apparently Chocobos are related to Love Birds… ain’t that sweet?

What to do with Unused Prims

Yay to Linden Labs allowing open space sim owners to have 3750 prims instead of 1875!

What do you do with all those extra prims?

I know  . . .

How to use Unused Prims up

You start a chocobo farm!  :P

Africa

As recommended by Danny, I went on a safari in the Africa sim to check it out. Wow… wow and double wow.

I have to say that it is probably one of the most amazing sims I have been on. The colors, the character .. if SL could smell like it looks, this sim smelled like Africa.

The attention to detail is what really blew me away. They even had shadows for the trees that moved with the wind. Awesome just awesome.

I would highly recommend that anybody who goes there to take the balloon tour. I’ve been on a few balloon tours in SL, but this one took the cake – the clear bottom of the balloon basket, combined with mouselook was a real treat. You HAVE to take it!

Exploring Second Life

As the days have ticked into weeks, and weeks melded into months and the months finally turned into a year and then some, I have been fooling around with exploring SL.

How so, you say?

Well, one of the things I had discovered of late, was I was growing uneasy and restless in Second Life (SL.)  Bored maybe?  The thing is, as anyone can tell you, there really should be no need for boredom in SL – the place is flippin’ huge!  You name it, it probably exists in SL.  No reason at all to be bored.  Yet, I was feeling this way.

I think some of what was getting me in SL was the over abundance of places to shop.  I need to find something really cool and quirky to shop for.  I was starting to find shopping for clothes in SL to be just as tedious and boring as shopping for clothes in Real Life (RL.)  Horay for the virtual world where people can’t tell if you haven’t changed your clothes for a week!  Hehehe … seriously though, I was / am bored with shopping.  I got way more clothes in my SL inventory that I will probably ever own in a lifetime in the real world.

So, looking at this growing restlessness, I decided that it was time to start exploring SL and in order to accomplish this, I needed to do it in a semi-haphazard sort of way.  I did not want to look for links, advertisements, or scrounge up some cool search term to use in the search engine knowing that if I did that, I would be limited by what my own imagination could come up with.  Nope… I decided on the random “open map” … “zoom out” … “that sim looks cool” … “click and teleport” routine.  LOL!

Yeah, this is a little bit of the simplified way I go about this kind of exploration.  Several issues to consider include:

  • The SL map is notoriously inaccurate.  Advice of a friend, be sure to open the map, close it, then reopen it.
  • The uncertainty of what you may tp into.  Heaven forbid I find some er…. intimate moment to crash

The biggest issue though . . . ta da da dum da dum . . .

I’M SHY.

Alright.. those people who are falling off their chairs laughing, you can stop any time now.  It’s true, I am shy and this has affected how I go about discovering SL – that is, I have been random click tp’ing into places that do not have a whole lotta “green dots” and when I do tp in, I always make sure to tp in a ways away from anybody.  I suppose, you could also say that with my personal experience with people “dropping in” unannounced at Chuang, that I am a little sensitive to dropping in to places I might not be wanted.

I can’t say I’ve found anything that I wanna jump up and down about, shouting to the masses “You gotta see this!” but it has been fun.  Of course, if people have suggestions of places worthy of going to see, I’m still open to hearing about them.  In the meantime, I’ll keep sim hopping.
