Music to Share: Linkin Park – The Little Things Give You Away

Haven’t shared any music lately, so here’s a tune that’s caught my attention.

Linkin Park, is a band which I have come to appreciate over the last couple of years. Not for the faint of heart, their music can run in the pretty hard care end of things, but they also have some very pretty ballads. The band’s popularity can be attested to by appearances on a couple of Big Shiny Tunes albums (#6, #8,) and this is probably how I was introduced to them as I often prefer to check out mixed albums before going out and buying a CD of an entire artist.

The latest album, Minutes to Midnight, is very good – in my humble opinion. A perfect blend of harder rock (I recommend Bleed it Out – not their hardest, but catchy) and nice mellow stuff (or hehe… my version of mellow.) The following song is one I like as a whole. Lyrically, I can’t say I completely get it… although I do from a broader level … I think it’s a tad on the depressing end of things… but… that being said, I love the way the song comes together, slowly building, then well… take a listen…. my favorite part is the ending…

The Little Things Give You Away

Water grey

through the windows
Up the stairs
Chilling rain
Like an ocean
Everywhere

Chorus:
Don’t want to reach for me do you?
I mean nothing to you
The Little Things Give You Away
And now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet / under water
I do
(End Chorus)

Hope decays
Generations disappear
Washed away
As a nation simply stares

Don’t want to reach for me do you?
I mean nothing to you
The Little Things Give You Away
But now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under water
I do
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under ground now I
Now I do

Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

Property Enhancements

Hey!!!!

An update… woohoo!

I have lots going on, but in the interest of short, readable, non-rambling posts (unlike this sentence) . . . I am breaking the information down into several shorter entries.  This should also mean (no promises!!!) that there should be several new posts in the next couple of days – provided that I don’t get distracted by little bits of fluff that float through my brain now and then. ;-)

Today’s entry – property enhancements :-)

I really don’t quite know what else to call them.  Some of them have occurred out of necessity – for example – the erection of another privacy blind on the one edge of my property.  I love my neighbors, don’t get me wrong – I live on a great island, but sometimes they build stuff that just ummm…. well… it’s not pleasing to the eye.  So, with that in mind, I have added a palm tree privacy blind on the one edge of the property.

Now the exciting stuff . . . drum roll please . . .

One thing that has happened during my stay in Second Life (SL) has been an ever growing number of young kids that drop by the property.  Many have become brothers or sisters, some are friends of those brothers or sisters, all have become friends of mine.  Heck, I’ve even developed an alt of my own that is a ‘young one’ (a blog post for another time, I promise.)  Mostly, I have experienced extreme pleasure watching kids play on the property.  The lagoon has been great – all that water for swimming; lots of sand on the beach – awesome for sand castles; and of course, there’s kid’s treehouse that belongs to my sis, but. . . on thing has been missing . . . stuff for kids to play on.  I remedied that today with the addition of a swing set and a teeter totter and thanks to the generosity of a friend (thanks Dunc!) a tree with a wonderful assortment of sit poses and animations.  Woohooo!

The Tree!

Other stuff… yes…. I have added other stuff including a palm tree swing on the far side of the lagoon.

Last but not least…. over by the firepit, I added a Joshua tree, to which Kyo added another swing… Yeah yeah… I like swings.  Off in the background are some waves which were placed on the beach a couple of weeks ago.

Firepit

Well…. that’s it for now folks….
