Halloween Costumes

What did we dress up as this Halloween?

Let me introduce you to…

Shadow the Pirate and her theme song: You are a Pirate

And last but not least….

Doodle as Mike and her theme song:  It’s Not Easy Being Green Doodle as Mike

Spider!

Shadow set up the property for Halloween over the last couple of days, but I missed seeing her put this little ‘baby’ out:

Big Spider!

I had to sneak off the house to get that pic, but this is where I spent much of my time:

Hiding on the housetop

The rest of the property has been littered with pumpkins, and scary ghosts and all… even a graveyard . . .

Graveyards & Ghosts

Happy Halloween all!

Doodle Devolution

Before I even started this post, I already knew it would have “The Doodle Evolution” as a category and tag, and yet it seems a bit ironic because in many ways it’s actually a “devolution.”

I have created another avatar – “Scribbles”

Scribbles is the 5 year old version of Doodle.  Hmm.. what more could one say?

Why did I create her?
I wanted – no, I think I needed.. ah, heck I needed and wanted to create a younger version of Doodle (hehe… I wonder how many people are thinking “Holy crap!  A five year old version of Doodle?!?!?.)  There is something about having the ability to wander through Second Life being just as innocent and oblivious as you want.  A 5 years old I don’t have to talk about any adult stuff.  I don’t even have to talk about teen stuff.  I might be aware of it (as the person behind the avie) but I can choose to not deal with it, instead making reference to the fact that Scribbles will be sure to ask Doodle or one of Doodle’s older friends.

What does Scribbles do?
She has fun doing stuff that 5 year old do.  Sometimes getting into trouble, but it is innocent 5 year old trouble.  The stuff you would expect … well, okay maybe a few things you wouldn’t – it is SL after all – when’s the last time you saw a 5 year old in real life with a roll of toilet paper attached to their hand so they could bean the neighborhood teenagers?

She hangs out with her best friend, Autumn, exploring Second Life.  Animals are cool.  And since it is halloween, there is lots of candy to be found – lately, she’s been prone to raiding people’s houses looking for some.  Heck there was even a little fun with breakable glass a week or so ago.

The Hunt for Skittles

I guess there is probably a lot more I could share about Scribbles, but she’s still pretty much a work in progress.  And thus.. she’s a devolution and an evolution all in one.

Catch ya on the flip side.

Doodlebug!

They call me “Doodle” or as some of my friends prefer “Doodlebug”… sometimes “DB” for short ;-)

Went to a party yesterday – a costume party. I’m not sure if going as a different avatar counted, but I took the plunge and became an actual “Bug.”

Music to Share: Linkin Park – The Little Things Give You Away

Haven’t shared any music lately, so here’s a tune that’s caught my attention.

Linkin Park, is a band which I have come to appreciate over the last couple of years. Not for the faint of heart, their music can run in the pretty hard care end of things, but they also have some very pretty ballads. The band’s popularity can be attested to by appearances on a couple of Big Shiny Tunes albums (#6, #8,) and this is probably how I was introduced to them as I often prefer to check out mixed albums before going out and buying a CD of an entire artist.

The latest album, Minutes to Midnight, is very good – in my humble opinion. A perfect blend of harder rock (I recommend Bleed it Out – not their hardest, but catchy) and nice mellow stuff (or hehe… my version of mellow.) The following song is one I like as a whole. Lyrically, I can’t say I completely get it… although I do from a broader level … I think it’s a tad on the depressing end of things… but… that being said, I love the way the song comes together, slowly building, then well… take a listen…. my favorite part is the ending…

Linkin Park
The Little Things Give You Away

Water grey

through the windows
Up the stairs
Chilling rain
Like an ocean
Everywhere

Chorus:
Don’t want to reach for me do you?
I mean nothing to you
The Little Things Give You Away
And now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet / under water
I do
(End Chorus)

Hope decays
Generations disappear
Washed away
As a nation simply stares

Don’t want to reach for me do you?
I mean nothing to you
The Little Things Give You Away
But now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under water
I do
All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under ground now I
Now I do

Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away
Little things give you away

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)

All you’ve ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you

(Little things give you away)
