The View – Almost at Eye Level
Woot!
This past weekend was most exciting and although I had originally intended to talk about two things in this blog entry, I have decided to split them into two separate posts ‘cuz they both deserve the individual attention. Heck… both got me really darn excited. Woohooo!
Yesterday? Was it yesterday? Hmm…. *fires up SL to check the creation date of some inventory items* … Yeah! Yesterday… Sunday. Anyways, yesterday, I logged into Second Life (SL) in a rather happy and frisky mood. The night before had been a blast after connecting up with Pickle and a few other friends and playing Truth or Dare (Pickle’s got an entry about it here.) Anywhooo… before I get too distracted and thinking about Truth or Dare (*blush*) ….
I logged on and fairly soon thereafter received an IM from Daniel, telling me that he (with the help of a friend… did you say Harold, Daniel?) had created a maze. Well… kewlies! I had previously had fun navigating a maze in the iWOOT sim, but knowing Daniel, he has a great creative talent… I knew this maze would be absolutely awesome. Finishing up a few chitchats and IM’s, I asked for a TP and arrived to check it out.
Whooooooa! Here’s what I found. And… just so ya know… I avoided taking pictures from way up high so that people would not know the entire layout of the maze. I did notice that from my adventures there yesterday, and my visit there today, that there were a few different things. I asked Daniel about this and he said that he had been in there changing a few things around. Cool! Means that things will always be changing up a little bit. I thought it was all about changing things up… he said it was partly about prim reduction, but then he told me that it was more just as much fun (or did he say more fun?) to build as it is to play in the maze.
A couple more pics:
One of Many Nooks in the Maze ↑ ~~~~~~~~~ ↑ The Central Gathering Area
The pic on the left is just one of many views … taken from just a little bit above the ground. I can guarantee you that it is way different when you’re look at it at eye level. The top picture is what you see at eye level!! You can’t see a damn thing.
The pic on the right is what you see in the “Main” area… or the landing point. Here is where everybody gathers after each round of “Hide ‘n Seek.” The green object you see at the bottom right of the screen is where the people about to go hide congregate before the countdown starts. Just to their left (you can’t see it, is the same object, only red, where the ‘hunters’ wait while the others go hide.’
So, after some haggling over the rules – the rules that came out of the “Hide and Seek Box” didn’t quite work. They were way too … I dunno vague. Maybe we just didn’t like them. So we kinda worked them out as we went along. They were pretty simple:
- No flying
- No HUDS
- No Radar
- No maps
Haha! Well.. we did have a few other rules we added as we went along… those who got caught had to eat their vegetables! Or something like that. Anyhow, with the assistance of some tags that ran scripts to show who was who and whether you had been caught, the game was afoot. Generally, those who were hiding had 30 seconds to find a hiding spot, and then 5 minutes to stay hiding (yes, you could move around, but you were better off to find a good spot to try to hunker down in) and if caught… then you had to return to the middle and depending on what variation of Hide ‘n Seek we were playing…. *pause* … *cough*… well… you might have to eat your veggies. Anyways, for the next round, those who had been caught became the “Seekers” in the next round.
What a blast! I’m not sure if we ever did completely finalize the rules. Did we, Rus? There was some debate about whether you could be caught more than once. I guess I’ll have to check that out the next time we go to play.
Well, that’s it folks. I gotta run. RL dinner is calling and I have a karate class tonight. Either later tonight or tomorrow, I’ll add a post about the Truth or Dare game. Haha… that was a fun time too.
Catch ya on the flip side!
