It’s a Fantasy World

Some days I come into Second Life (SL) and wonder what I’m going to do . . .

It’s not that there isn’t lots to do – I’m just one of those people who, when I get restless, want to see something different. Much of the time, I am happy to lay on my beach in Chuang, or go to the Vortex and dance, or if I’m really lucky, I manage to find some buddies online and we explore SL together. And, just when you least expect it, exploration opportunities pop up in places you thought were the “Same ol’ same ol’.” Today was one of those days …

IM’ing my brother Zen, he teleported me (tp’ed) to Waterworks island – a well known haunt – one of the first places he and I spent time on when we came to SL. Sitting, chatting, discussing my latest toy (Omniphaze,) when my young friend, Autumn, dropped in (actually we planned it – well I did… thought my friend would have fun bugging Zen since she thinks boys are icky! ;-) ) The beach is the place where dreams and fantasies can come alive, especially if you are young, and we didn’t have to wait long before Autumn spotted a “fishie lady” – a Mermaid. Well, the mermaid lady, Tabitha, was very sweet and took the time to explain what a mermaid was, and offered to show us her home.

From there … the adventure began…

I, unfortunately, had to depart for a few minutes to retrieve a real life (RL) dog who had made a break for it from the backyard, but by the time I got back, it was apparent that I was missing out. Finally tp’ed to where Autumn and Tabitha were, I found myself in the coolest sea world store – complete with mermaid outfits and more… way cool. Sitting in a camping chair (gawd, I hate camping chairs) would eventually deliver a free mermaid animation overrider (ao,) but once again RL interfered and I had to go off and do some stuff. When I returned, a mermaid Sim had been explored… was way kewl, but I missed it. I never did get a chance to try out my mermaid ao – umm.. not sure I will… so from there…

Autumn the Mermaid

Autumn – “Tommermaid”
(Cross between a Tomboy and a Mermaid ;-) )

Off to a dinosaur land – wow. What a treat. Eventually I will add the slurl for it, but my description will have to do the pathetic job of describing it. It was like a big complex … experimental it seems – to try to bring dinosaur back from extinction? There was a breeding room… way kewl. And the neatest thing… we were introduced to this sim / fantasy by the same person who introduced us to the mermaid fantasy. From the experiment complex, we tp’ed upstairs to a place where they sold all sorts of dinosaur avatars and accessories. Even saw a flying mouse??? What a riot!

You know, my hat is off to Tabitha. Some people have a difficult time adjusting to kid avies in SL… and even teen ones like mine, but she did a great job. Even as a dinosaur avie, she was great – donning a saddle and allowing both Autumn and myself to climb on for a ride.

)

Ever ridden a raptor?

On to the next stop . . .

Grendels? I think … a huge store with all sorts of avatars – dinosaurs, spiders, pigs… you name it.. it was there. Well it was almost all there … *chuckle* I got a yen to find me a hamster avatar (a toast to Duncan deciding that my latest exercise routine and my hyperness is reminiscent of being a hamster) – but they didn’t have one. Gosh and darn, anyways! I did pick up a couple of spider avatars … Halloween is coming. :-)

So… what could have been a boring day.. turned into an exciting day… with lots to explore… and I haven’t even begun to include all of the places we saw. I’m thinking I will be soon adding a page with the slurl’s of some of the interesting places I have come across – or at least interesting things in my opinion.

A Few Cool Pictures

Umm…. let’s see… nothing terribly exciting going on in Second Life (SL.)  Or maybe that’s nothing I wanna share ;-)   Who knows huh?

I still haven’t figured out where the little package that got left on my property came from.  After much careful thought and consideration, I think I’ve decided I don’t really wanna know.  *chuckles*

Anyways… a while ago, while playing Truth or Dare, we ended the evening with a hug, of course!  Not a usual hug though – normally, everybody gives everybody a hug but this time, Daniel pulled out the coolest hug gadget… a “group hug.”  Kewl!!!

Duncan took the following picture, and I wanted to share ‘cuz the hug was kewl, but so is the picture.

Group Hug!

Other kewl pictures… well I got one more.  Ha!  While out exploring with friends, we found a really neat Sim with a little bit of everything for everybody.  Can’t remember the name of it right now, but there are bumper boats, a place to go fishing, lots of water slides, some drums for playing, and a tiki hut with dance floors.  The best part though was a little camping area, with tents and the whole shabang.  Even better… the following…

Don’t feed the Bears

*Laughing*

Well, anybody who knows my Real Life stories (#1, #2)about bears, knows why this scene tickled my fancy.  I promise my young friend didn’t get eaten by the bear, but I did talk to him about how sitting on the bear is not a good idea in the long run.

Okay… that’s it, that’s all folks.  Enjoy….

A Little Package

Today I opened a big package… set up some cool waves on the beach. Yeah… sweet. Checked prim stats – 115 prims left.

Then I had to go and do some stuff.

Then I came back.

Then I found a “little package” on the beach. Deeded to the group, naturally, so I wouldn’t know who it belonged to. Checked prim stats – 114 prims left.

I wonder who left it there?

*looking around for some likely suspects*

The Family Grows!

I have been in Second Life (SL) for …. *going and hitting the AV info object… 232 days*  …. okay… that’s a little bit of overkill… but anyways…

When I came to SL back in February of this year, one of the first people I ran into was Duncan.  My SL bro, Zen, insisted that I just had to meet Duncan… Duncan was the coolest, he said.  Well… yeah… so I did.  It was an interesting first meet… where was that first place.  I think I got tp’ed into a sim where we should not have been (didn’t like young av’s)  and to boot, my computer was having serious issues running SL.  I believe I was lucky if I managed to run for more than 2 minutes before I would hear a “Pop” and then my computer would go to a “Blue screen of death” (very rare for an XP machine.)  Nonetheless, a friendship was formed.

Over the last (counting on my fingers now . . . ) eight months, I have shared many conversations with Duncan – we’ve had serious ones, philisophical ones… many light-hearted and silly ones too – and well… it’s been a growing experience for me.  It’s been a real blast.  Wouldn’t change any of it for the world!

Umm… am I rambling?  hehe… it’s my way… be patient!

Duncan has tolerated a lot from me… LOL!  I think I’ve pranked his house a few times.  Who could resist pranking Duncan?  After he and Kyo decided to decorate my and Shadow’s Canadian camping chairs with flags of their nationalities (ick!) I made sure I went and planted a Canadian flag atop of both of their houses.  Then there was the famous cloud rezzing incident… uh, I don’t think I posted an entry on that one, but I did rezz a cloud in Duncan’s living room (I might have a picture somewhere that I can post… :D .)  Hehe…was pretty cool until he thought that someone was seriously trying to grief him.  Let’s say I picked a bad day for that.

Ramble ramble ramble…

Okay… well today is a special day, and I feel honored to announce that Duncan is now my SL bro.. Woot!  Ummm… I’d like to think he’s gonna protect me, but I have the feeling he’s gonna get me in lotsa trouble.  *chuckle*

Hey Dunc… You’re the coolest :)   Glad you’re my bro.

Truth or Dare! (Take 2, I Think)

Truth: Name one player in the game you really don’t like and tell why. If you can’t answer this question, then do a dare.

Dare: Select two consective ‘dares’ and perform them
Dare #2: Swap one piece of clothing with the person sitting on your right.
Dare #3: For five minutes, whenever you end a sentence, express relief.

I really did draw my questions in that order… it was “Holy #%^!@@^^!, what are the odds!” 200 random questions… 200!!!

Yeah, that was luck of the draw the other night while playing “Truth or Dare” with Pix and a bunch of others. It wasn’t my first time playing, but umm… it had been a while and it was with a whole new bunch of people.

Can you imagine me, Doodle, being asked to answer the first question? Me? Me… Not like anybody? I’m certain there are people out there I don’t like, but what are the odds I would be playing Truth or Dare with them? Uh huh, yeah, right!

So, pick a dare to do instead. Yeeeaaaaaah, right! See, I find truth questions are easier that dares. Would you believe I blush even in SL. Truth questions require I just answer something factually. Dare questions require I step outside my little safe box and “do something!” LOL! Sometimes the dare isn’t so bad, or at least it doesn’t seem so bad, but other times it can be absolutely mortifying. I did receive a few dares that left me squirming, trying to figure out how and if I was going to be able to accomplish them. Imagine: In your skivvies, going into a welcome area and shouting: “I am so horny, I want a noob!” Imagine Doodle doing that. Walking around SL in underwear is bad enough. *blush*

Now, I give people a lot of credit. Take Roo for example, Pix’s bf, he always selects dares – he thrives on them – finds them fun. Wow! Way to go Roo. My hat… no, make that my shirt, is off to you (see further on in the post.) And, it is fun watching him do them. The rest of us… well at least me, while I might find it easier to select truth questions, I don’t totally wimp out – I do hit the “Random” button – that way I can get a truth or a dare question. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a dare question, it’s just that I have a hard time selecting a dare question. What if it is one that I cannot do? Ha! I have not run across one yet (one that I have had to do) but I have seen others do ones I’m not sure I could …. it’s all the luck of the draw.

So, Pickle and I have talked. We wanna hold a Truth or Dare party. What a challenge that will be, but what an absolute riot as well. Challenges include coming up with a list of custom question for the truth or dare wheel (the ones already in the wheel are okay, but … well … some are pretty stupid) and trying to figure out a day/time that works. We’ll certainly figure out the day/time thing, but we need help from others for the questions. You can submit any questions or dares to me or Pickle in our blogs or if ya like online (might wanna keep those questions unknow… hehe.)

Some pointers:

  • Truth questions:
    • Try to not use ones that require a yes or no answer – open ended is best
    • Ask for details… heh… who, how, what, when … etc.
    • If someone could answer yes or no, then insert the word “If” at the beginning of the question… kinda makes it hypothetical then
    • If you think they’re gonna dodge the question, direct them to do a dare question (if the dare questions are good enough, should scare the pants off of anybody to answering the truth question)
  • Dares:
    • I don’t really need to explain this do I? ;-)
    • Embarrassing is best
    • For the purposes of SL, must be something you can do in SL
    • Try to remember that there are some things which can breach SL TOS … so, uh, running naked the a Welcome Area…. not good!

Well… that’s it.

Oh, want to know what piece of clothing we swapped? I gave up a tshirt, and got a pair of shorts in return. Thanks Roo! Wasn’t expecting that … seems when the dare if yours, you should think that somehow, in some way, they’re gonna try to embarrass you. Tip #1 – wear underwear when playing Truth or Dare.

Express relief at the end of every sentence for 5 minutes? Aren’t you so glad that I haven’t done that in this blog, Oh yeah, that feels so goooooood!
