I finally got around to updating the Addicted to Second Life page.
The page continues to be a fairly popular page in the search engines. I’m not sure if this is because people are suffering a serious Second Life addiction or if they are looking at it in a humorous way like I am, but nonetheless, I have enjoyed maintaining the page.
Feel free to continue sending in your suggestions, and I’ll be sure to add them.
Catch ya on the flip side!

Second life ruins peoples real lives. You withdrawl yourself from everday society and become agoraphobic. You shun your friends and family and steadily build up debt using real money to buy fake things. This is why so many people that play second life are financially unstable. Everyone that plays this game needs to stop putting the second life before the real one. The members of second life are tomorrows hardcore unemployed.

Hi Dogmatic
Certainly SL can have this effect on some, but not on all. In fact most people I know lead a healthy balanced life and do not allow Second Life to ruin their real life, although I am certain this has happened for some.
I’m not sure about whether SL could be considered the causal factor of Agoraphobia. As someone who has agoraphobia, SL has not caused my agoraphobia nor caused me to withdraw further from society. To the contrary, some of the people I interact with in SL, who know of my own personal situation help me and encourage me to fight against the debilitating effects of Agoraphobia. Further, most people I know in SL are employed, so I’m not so sure that the several million people who have accounts in SL are tomorrow’s unemployed.
I am sorry to hear, however, that you have seen this type of effect on people.
