I’m an 80’s Child – yikes!

Confession time… LOL. I think I’m an 80’s child. Yup… *blush* I am – but that does not mean I’m old… in fact, I refuse to grow up … (just a little defensive here :P )

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the music from all the other eras (50’s – present) and in particular, I have a real liking for the 90’s – especially the harder rockin’ stuff, but I do love the 80’s music. Brings back all sorts of memories of my childhood – the promise of freedom – the allure of “nothing really matters for the moment.”

One of my favorite songs . . . Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors”

TRUE COLORS

You with the sad eyes
don’t be discouraged
oh I realize
it’s hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you fell so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that’s why I love you
so don’t be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
don’t be unhappy, can’t remember
when I last saw you laughing
if this world makes you crazy
and you’ve taken all you can bear
you call me up
because you know I’ll be there

And I’ll see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that’s why I love you
so don’t be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Yup… pretty much expresses how I feel about letting people “live and let live.” Seems to me that sometimes when people try to express themselves and it is contrary to what the rest of the world thinks is “okay” – it can be a tough road to be on. So to all my friends out there who are doing your thing because it’s you – Let your true colors shine through!

The Party

Today was a good day … wait – it was a great day!!!  The sun was shining (both in Real Life and Second Life) and a party was in the making to celebrate Duncan’s birthday.  I, being as hyper as I am, managed to get to Second Life well before the festivities got started.  Arrived at home and I must say that I was and still am impressed – Zen did a great job of arranging everything.  There were a couple of hot tubs, a dance ball – everything was perfect including our friend Daniel agreeing to DJ the party for us.  He has great taste in music and there is nothing like great music, customized for the occasion.  The only glitch for the event was trying to set the land to “open” access which meant that anyone who wanted to come had to be on the “allowed” list.  Sheesh… kept trying to fix it, but I kept getting the “You have 15 seconds to leave this land” message.  Oh well… wasn’t too big of a glitch, but a definite pain in the arse.

I, unfortunately, (and here’s what really sucks,) had a commitment that required I log off after only an hour and fifteen minutes… Man, did that suck or what?  Wasn’t even one of those things I could reschedule or anything – darn it anyways!

So, I’ve returned after my family engagement, smelling like a campfire (we had a wiener roast,) and have now logged back into SL.  I’ve been checking the place out to make sure nobody left any beer or Jack Daniels bottles behind, or heaven forbid, any clothes.  ;-)   Place looks pretty tidy… hehe.

So plans for the rest of the day?  Well… first – a shower!  Then . . .  some SL time, I think.  Time to sit on the beach, bathe in the never ending sun and try to figure out how to get into trouble. ;-)

Catch ya on the flip side.
