All right… what gives?
It’s Sunday, and weekends are usually the time to do chores and take care of the every day things I put off Monday through Friday. But weekends are also Second Life (SL) time too. Today.. I find myself stuck between both those worlds. Truth be known – I’d rather be completely stuck in SL *sigh* but that’s not about to happen. So as I get up and down and excuse myself from conversations in SL, I take care of the itty bitty chores I have been putting off.
Did I say “itty bitty?” Who am I kidding, huh? For the last two months, my house has been a constant flow of one contractor after another, changing out windows, doors, and flooring. What was I thinking? Sure, the reno’s look nice, but the work…. argh!!! And … and… I didn’t even have to do the big work – just the follow-up, clean up the mess stuff. That ’stuff’ is driving me over the brink! LOL. Seems every time I turn around, I have found one more thing to put away. And as I am putting away, I think to myself, When was the last time I used this? Hell… when was the last time I saw this? Do I really need it? Did I mention that I’m obsessive? Well, after I ask those questions, there is something that makes it so I can’t throw it (whatever it may be) away. I recall fondly how many times I have thrown something away only to need it the next week… feeds into the obsessiveness.
Hmm… yup, I really needed that three feet of red yarn I just tossed out.
So… what do you think the next renovation is? (Man, I wish they were SL reno’s… much easier that way.) -
Hubby: Hey, we should get the house painted this summer? (sort of rhetorical, looking to me for my reaction)
Me: Hmm… do you think we should? (Giving hubby the glaring dagger “you’re out of your mind” look, not at all a rhetorical question)
Hubby: Yeah, I think so. We could get someone in to do it. (Sees the “I think you’re outta your mind look from me but chooses to ignore it)
Me: Well, I don’t know. Say… did you get your package that arrived in the mail? I left it at the top of the stairs for you. (As a last ditch effort, redirection to the possibility of new toys arriving in the mail always is worth a try)
Hubby: Oh? Really? Where? When did it come? Do you know where it is from? (No more rhetorical questions. Yes!!!! Success!!!!)
*Sigh* *Even bigger sigh*
Yup. The house will be painted this summer. And… I’ll be the one cleaning up after it.
You know what I really hate about renovations? They are never done!!! Never, I tell ya!! Seems just when you get one done, you look around and see there is one more to do. OMG! What a nightmare. I don’t even want to consider what has to be done after the painting… nooooo… don’t wanna think about that….
*Format C:/ on my brain*
Catch ya on the flip side.
