Eek! Shrieking Metal!!

Okay.  That’s it.  Time for some real science fiction stuff here – “Beam me up, Scotty!”

Waaaahhh!  I wanna live in Second Life (SL.)  At least in SL if I break something, I can go buy another real cheap, or in the worst case scenario, I can delete it from my inventory because it really wasn’t that necessary anyways.  Or better yet, if I crash, I can just log off and log back on again.

Screeecch!  Back to reality, or Real Life (RL) as us SL’ers affectionately (or not so affectionately) call it.  Garr!  I did crash today, but not the kind where I can just log off and log back on.  I <cry> hurt my poor little car today and that of a coworker.  Can you say “accident?”  How about “Bonehead?”   I know… better yet, “Are you a real blond?”

Yup.  I did it.  End of my day, I’m tired and I pull out of my parking lot to go home.  Of course, normally our parking lot isn’t very full but it was today and I cut the wheel to sharp and did a nice grinding motion against my coworkers car.  :-(   Damn good thing we’re good friends or she probably would have strangled me on the spot.  Still, nonetheless, I feel like crap – left my paint smears on her car and hers on mine.   Ack!  Now does that suck or what?  I wanna be able to click my “Edit” button and go and redo the paint job.  *sigh*

So, I think I will toddle off to SL today and take solace in the fact that I cannot really do much damage to anything other than my pride when I accidently detach my hair and can’t find it for a half an hour.  Damn!

“Scotty… can you give me any more power?  I need that transport now!”

Awww poor Doodle… How thankful I am that in SL no real damage is done, or i would have killed several neighbors, swans, orcas and destroyed lots of valuable things with my jet ski driving within the last few days!

Poor Doodle. I don’t think the colour of your hair has much to do with it, however. This accidents could happen to anyone, even the tough manly men who would, of course refuse to admit this. I know I have had some nice screeching metal on metal accidents before.

Oh well. as only as it is only paint, i think it will not be too costly (just bring a jar of metallic nail polish in the cars colour ;-)

I agree to you both that you cant get hurt in Second Life as far as it is meant Physically. Financially, and emotionally, however, second life can hurt you quite a lot. I only have to think back about last Sunday to see how things could hurt me financially, and i know that especially you, Daniel, also have had your share of emotional damage. Non the less, most of these damages can be overcome with time.

But, Ducan… to fix it I need two different colors of nail polish. :P One for my car, and one for her car.

Yes, you cannot get physically hurt in SL, but most definitely, one can get be both financially and emotionally hurt within SL. I wonder how many people haven’t figured this out yet?
