As Things Change

I have not written in this blog for a very long time.  The reasons are many, but to simply the explanation would be to say that I have begun exploring a different part of SL – the adult world.  Yes… *gasp*… I have an adult avatar.  I am as yet uncertain as to whether to introduce her here as I seem to prefer to keep what I do with her private and away from those who might be curious as to who she is and what she does.  At some future date, I may decide to alter the direction of this blog and include a few posts on her behalf – places she has explored, issues she encounters, but for now, that will remain in limbo… something to be considered.  Stay tuned as I figure out how and in what way I will broach that.

The topic of today’s post though is a tough one – changes.

After living on Chuang since May of 2007, I have decided to give up my beach retreat.  This has been one of the toughest and saddest things I have done, and while I feel some regret at having to let go of it, I believe it is the right move.

I have many fond memories of my beach, way too many to list – swimming, friends meeting, being pranked…  and as I have slowly been picking things up in preparation for vacating it, I cried a few tears.

I wish I could explain it better – it’s only pixels after all – a little residence in the midst of a whole lot of Sims in Second Life.

I wish I could explain better about how even though I felt extreme sadness as giving it up, that I feel content and okay with the move.  Mixed feelings?

My time at Chuang has been one of growth, learning, happiness.  It was my retreat when things were going rough in RL and even sometimes in SL.  I will not forget a single moment that I spent there – either by myself or with good friends.

So, while I bid goodbye to a place that holds many fonds memories for me, I welcome a whole wealth of new experiences that await me.

Blowing in the Wind

Hehe…

Lots of time, nothing to do… what more can I say…

Toilet paper monster visited a friend’s place. ;-)

Renos

Got bored and while exploring with a friend, noticed a few friends places had peeling paint and were in need of some major redecorating and renos . . .

No more peeling paint here!

Nor here!

Okay. The lighthouse was fine, but nobody could see it!

A very cool place to visit

Umm… Yeah.. it’s been a while.  I’ve had lots going on including some major life style changes, one of which has meant limiting my time online… thus, people probably ain’t been seeing much of me.

I’ve been promising a friend that I would post this entry for a while, so here it is.

Introducing…

One of the coolest places I’ve been to in Second Life (SL)  … I suppose my geeky science background will show through…

The place:  International Space Museum located in the Spaceport Alpha Sim

Pictures speak a thousand words, so I’ll go easy on the words and share the pictures…

One of many impressive sights is a display of the history of different rockets.

A history of rockets ... life size models

You don’t appreciate how many different rockets there have been until you see
them from afar.

Space Station

You can take a tour of the space station.  This is an incredible
thing to behold.  What you don’t realize looking at this picture
is that the Space Station is a full size replica (this picture
panned way out!)

Saturn

Once at the space station, you are given the opportunity
to take a tour of all the planets.  Saturn has always been
a favorite of mine.  Each planet has information points
posted with facts about the planet’s size, rotational period,

time to orbit the sun, mass and any satellite or probe visits.

I can’t recommend visiting the museum enough.  As it is, I have visited twice and still am finding new stuff to explore.  I expect that I shall be returning again and again.

Yes, I’m Back

Yes… I went on a little trip and now I’m back…. and recovering :P

Seriously… I am back and maybe I need to update a little bit about my SL adventures, eh?

The biggest development has been the neighbors in the plot next to mine have moved.  Initially it meant that I was getting more visitors instead of less as people tried to figure out where the old neighbors had moved to.  But with the help of an automatic notice that tells seekers where to go seek what they are seeking .. heh heh… my unexpected visitor count has declined dramatically.  I do wait with bated breath to see who will buy the plot now that it is vacant.

It also seems that I will be having new neighbors to the south of me as I prepare for a low prim sim to be connected to my current sim.  Apparently it is going to be a private sim… low prim… half water… I’ll also be on pins and needles a bit as these neighbors move in.  I have been reassured that they are quiet, private people… I sure hope so.

I have made a few changes to my parcel in an effort to dissuade people from considering it as a place they want to stop and spend lots of time with.  As I mentioned in earlier blog entries, most security systems don’t work quite the way they used to and I do not… *will not* resort to a security system that will eject people from my land.  So… now… if you want to explore you can…. the parcel has been made no script, no fly, no rezz.  Sorry everybody, but if you aren’t in the group… you can’t do these things.

Related to the no fly status of my property is also the water channel I have created around my property.  Hehe… why related?  Well….. initially I had created one that was fairly deep and then I realized that if my property was no fly and you fell in the channel, you’d have a hard time getting out.   So now… it’s a gentle channel… easily walked out of… with… hehe…. an alligator in it.  Chomp chomp!  A big surprise and a pleasant one at that was coming back from my trip to discover that the channel had been widened by adding to it on the neighboring properties.

There’s been a few other changes…. some major, some minor… all related to terraforming, and over the next while I will continue to fine tune how things look.  Eventually I will take a pic and show everybody the before and after.  For now…

Catch you on the flip side!
